The Student Diversity and Inclusion Council (S.D.I.C.) along with Student Educators for Active Leadership (S.E.A.L.) will be hosting Longwoods First Social Justice in Action Leadership Summit in the Spring Semester. Adams, Bell and Griffin (2007) define social justice as both a process and a goal. "The goal of social justice education is full and equal participation of all groups in a society that is mutually shaped to meet their needs. Social justice includes a vision of society that is equitable and all members are physically and psychologically safe and secure."
Mission: To motivate and encourage students to use their experiences as citizen leaders to advocate for social justice (change) and equality on campus and throughout their perspective communities.
Objectives: The Social Justice in Action Leadership Summit will achieve its mission by exposing students to the prevalence of social imbalances as they exist within society; thus creating citizen leaders who understand and acknowledge their role in limiting the perpetuation of unjust and inequitable practices towards all.
This was created in Photoshopand the only outside thing I did not create were the people in the middle, which I used a brush for. The font used for both items is the official Longwood University font of Adobe Garamond. The rotunda symbol in the middle is known as the "CHI Symbol" and represents CHI and the spirit of Longwood.
